Boring Legal Info
This page explains what data is (and isn't) collected when you use AlphaGuess.
What we collect
Things you give us
To play AlphaGuess, you don't need to give us any personal information.
If you choose to contact us directly (for example, by email), we'll only use your details to reply.
If you upgrade to our supporter tier, we create an account for you tied to your subscription using our third-party payment provider, Stripe. To do so, you provide us with your email address which we store for the purposes of allowing you to access your account and manage your billing.
Things collected automatically
Like most websites, some basic technical information is collected when you visit, such as:
- Your IP address – used by our analytics to work out roughly where you are. Watchtower hashes it rather than storing it; Google Analytics handles it under Google's own privacy policy
- Browser and device type
- Pages you visit and how long you stay
This helps keep the site running properly and understand how it's being used.
Analytics
We use two analytics services to understand how the site is used — for example, how many people play each day. Watchtower is a lightweight, privacy-focused service that stores no personal data. We also use Google Analytics, which is subject to Google's privacy policy. This data is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally.
Playing AlphaGuess inside Discord as an Activity does not change any of this, except that Google Analytics does not run there. Discord may collect its own data under its own privacy policy, which we do not control.
Your rights
If you're in the UK or EU, you have the right to:
- Ask what data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion
- Withdraw consent where applicable
To do this, just get in touch.
